Four thousand one hundred members · no clubhouse, no burgee, no committee dinners
Every anchorage note here was filed by a member who anchored in it, with the date and the boat's draught attached. Pilot books are three years old the day they are printed. This is the same information, updated by the people using it.

No joining fee and no notice period. Trade membership does not exist: brokers, yards and suppliers are welcome to read the site and are not admitted to the forum or the directory.
How it works
No building, no bar, no dress code and no committee. Nearly all the money members pay goes on moderating the forum and keeping the anchorage notes current, which is the entire product.
Not out of snobbery: a forum with suppliers in it becomes a place where questions get answered commercially. They may read everything and they may not post, and we enforce it.
An anchorage that was good in 2011 may now have moorings all over it. Notes older than four years are shown greyed, which is unflattering to us and useful to the person planning a passage.
Members file notes because somebody else's note helped them. It is slower than commissioning content and it is the reason the notes say when the holding is poor.
“The pilot showed an anchorage as good holding in sand. The club note, filed eight months earlier by a boat of similar draught, said it was weed over rock and the northern corner was the only place that held. That note alone was worth ten years of subscription.”
